“Power to You”

A NEW WAY TO IMAGINE DISABILITY SUPPORT

Power to You is a groundbreaking initiative by MAMRE, one of Brisbane's oldest not-for-profit disability services providers. Power to You provides a range of co-designed e-learning resources for people with disabilities to help them create their version of a "good life".

Projects for Purpose worked closely with the clients of MAMRE on the co-design and implementation of this fantastic project.

Co-design is a facilitated process where end-users drive the design and development of the project content. True co-design can often be seen as challenging and resource intensive. However, good co-design can produce powerful stories of personal experience and learning content that speaks directly to the audience's needs.

Power to You provides free downloadable resources and online modules that help a person to:

  • THINK: Uncover what your version of a good life looks like

  • PLAN: With resources that will help you to create the life YOU choose

  • FIND: The roles you have or want in your personal life, community, and work

  • UNDERSTAND YOUR RIGHTS: The importance of inclusion, participation and privacy

Power to You is a fantastic resource for any person with a disability. We encourage all community organisations to share this tremendous resource with the people they work alongside.

Visit the Power to You website to discover more.

At the recent launch event, hosted by Southbank Institute, the audience was lucky to hear and see the personal stories of the Power to You co-designers - brought to life by the team at JMD.

You can watch the video series on the MAMRE YouTube channel.
